John Martin Egan, O.P.
John Martin Egan, O.P. was born to Catholic parents in Detroit MI in 1927. He has one brother and one sister, both married. He was educated from first grade to college graduation in Catholic schools in Detroit. Fr. Egan entered the Dominican Order in autumn of 1949 and was ordained in 1956. After teaching religion in several Catholic colleges for eight years he was assigned to Peru in 1965 where he worked for seven years. From 1975-1981 he was pastor of Holy Rosary parish in Kentucky. He next did parish mission preaching from 1982 until 1988. From 1988 until 2006 Fr. Egan was assigned as Catholic chaplain to a federally-sponsored retirement home and health facility for armed forces veterans. E-mail: johnmeganop - at - hotmail.com
